JME-Man dont care about all that

This is a rap/hip genre music video and is talking about how he doesn't care about anything and nothing can stop him from doing what he wants.
Cutting rate:
The cutting rate in this video varies and doesn't have a fast cutting rate considering that its a fast track. However there is a lot of panning and tracking used, so this video is still interesting. since my group will be doing a similar genre music video I will keep in mind the fast cutting rate which is included in this video and how effective it is from cut to cut.
Location:
The hole of this video is filmed in a dark environment with limited lighting which is just focused on the artist to highlight the importance of the artist, which connotes the genre of this video (rap) which is quiet stereotypical of rap as most rap/grime music videos include dark lighting such as this, or that the rap in general is a dark piece of music involving violence. This gives me a good idea of filming for my groups music video and we do have a few locations in central london which include dim or dark lighting such as graffiti tunnels on leake st.
Mise en scene:
For mise en scene about half the lyrics JME uses props related to the lyrics to give the audience a better understanding of what he is rapping about for example, one of the lyrics talks about a "uni degree" and he is holding the degree in his hand burning it which shows once again that he "doesn't care about it". Also the clothing of which JME is wearing is a dark tracksuit and in general the dark clothing suits the genre and the environment in which this video is filmed in and for my groups music video the artist will be wearing dark clothing such as JME, maybe not a tracksuit but definitely dark clothing for effect.
Camera shots:
Most of the video contains mid shots and close ups and it varies between the cutting and the different shots alternate so it will be a mid shot first and in the next cut a close up so and so... You also have a low angle shot showing the rapper looking down at the audience showing he's important. Also when there is a mid shot often the camera will gradually get closer the to artist and become a close up shot. Plus as I have said panning and tracking used multiple times to show the back up artists in the background. This gives me a good idea for when we are filming our music video, just how many different shots we should be attempting even if we are not going to be using them all.

  1. Again split technical elements into headings and expand, good on camera (could do more), definitely more on mise-en-scene as there are more props used (linking to lyrics). Also costume and lighting are important and link to genre. What can you use for your own video?
